Landed cost per unit

How this is calculated
The factory price is only the start. This calculator adds international freight, insurance, customs duty on the customs value, import VAT and brokerage to show the real unit cost you must beat with your selling price.
- Customs value = cost + freight + insurance
- Duty = customs value x duty%
- VAT = (customs value + duty) x VAT%
- Landed = cost + freight + insurance + duty + VAT + handling
What to make of the number
Never price against factory cost alone; duty and import VAT commonly add 25-40% to landed cost.
Frequently asked questions
Is duty on the product or the shipment?
On the customs value (cost + freight + insurance), not just the unit cost.
